Description:
Minneapolis, MN: Artpolice, 1982. First Edition. Very good.. Single issue of the long-running art zine helmed by Frank Gaard, a teacher at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. With a punk ethos and an outsider quality, ARTPOLICE was a reactionary publication designed to provoke, even within its own ranks, which in the early years largely consisted of Gaard's current and former students. "I wanted to break all the rules...I fancied myself and art criminal." Issues are comprised almost entirely of line drawings, with constant variation in size, printing methods, titles and issue numbers (there are at least seven issues marked volume 1 no. 1). Contributors to this issue include Mark Akguilan, Andy Baird, Mike Brehm, Eric Burmeister, Robert Corbit, Frank Gaard, Janet Groenert, Deb Huff, Dave Johnson, Lillian Kopomen, Joe McDonnell, Bill McKearn, Steve Mignone, Gregory Miller, Ann Morgan, Rick Noble, Ed Rath, John Rath, Coleen Salmi, Carol Scalamera, Craig Smith, Jennifer Sobin, Jon West, Fritz… Read More

Description:
Derby, CT: Monarch Books, Inc, 1963. First edition. Very good plus.. First printing of this notorious lesbian pulp novel by a pseudonymous Marion Zimmer Bradley. Early '60s pulp with a lurid, exploitative hook but contemplative, angst-ridden content, featuring seductions to the strains of Sibelius on the phonograph ("the dark sounds and floating melancholy of The Swan of Tuonela," specifically.) Well-reviewed in the Lesbiana column of The Ladder, which noted approvingly: "The novel is well written, unmarred by the sexual excess expected in paperback originals." Rated "Objectionable" by the National Organization for Decent Literature. 7'' x 4.25''. Original color pictorial wrappers, from a "Special Color Photo" by Lester K. Kraus. 144 pages. Mild edgewear; crease to rear cover; faint dampstaining to upper edge.

Description:
New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1982. Fine in fine dust jacket.. Signed first edition, a review copy, of this collection of poetry that was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry, the National Book Award, and the National Book Critics Circle Award. Gilbert's social proximity to Beat greats Ginsberg and Spicer may imply an associated stylistic proximity, but Gilbert wrote through a more traditional lineage. In this collection, revised poems from his first work, the critically-acclaimed 1962 VIEWS OF JEOPARDY, are presented alongside new poems after twenty years of public silence. "Steeped in shadowy grammar and ornately wrought lines," the "treasure-chest style" (Knapp) of MONOLITHOS earned it the Stanley Kunitz Prize and the American Poetry Review Prize, as well as nominations for all three major American book awards. 8.25'' x 5.25''. Original black cloth with silver and blind lettering. Original unclipped ($11.50) pictorial dust jacket, designed by James Laughlin. Top edge stained blue. 94 pages.… Read More
