First edition of this curious history of Modoc County, and of the Modoc Indian Wars, by a descendant of the California 49’er pioneers who settled in Modoc, Siskiyou & Shasta Counties, and includes photos and family accounts. Although a relatively modern local history of the Indian Wars surrounding the Indian peoples known today as the Confederated Tribes of the Siletz Reservation, it should be noted that the author retains a number terms in her narrative such as “Squaw”. Also included are extensive bibliography, place names, and list of the first registered voters in Modoc County.
