Description:
Bangalore, India: Marketing Consultants & Agencies Ltd. (1st Edition, 1994). Pictorial hardcover with matching pictorial dust jacket, both in very good condition, 195 pages. Clean and unmarked. Colors bright. Binding is square and tight. T. P. Issar ( - 2004) was the author of highly-lauded books on the architectural heritage of Bangalore and Mysore cities--THE CITY BEAUTIFUL and THE ROYAL CITY. Issar, ever an admirer of Bangalore's blossoms, was hesitant to embark on BLOSSOMS OF BANGALORE because of his admitted "floral illiteracy". It needed a little goading before he started work on a book which, he hoped, would improve his own knowledge of the flowering trees of Bangalore and bring out the "poet-painter's vision" which put them there: a book which would delight the eye besides being a handy reference volume for the non-botanist "florophile". He wanted people to be on "first-name terms" with at least a few of the tree-blossoms which bring them so much joy--articulated or just felt. An important… Read More

Paris, KY: Edna Talbott Whitley (1st Edition, 1969). Softcover in protective clear plastic sleeve, 146 pages. Ex-library reference (not circulated), with the expected labels, markings, and wear. Spine is faded, with remains of old clear tape used to reinforce. Inner hinges have been reinforced with clear tape that has yellowed with age. This is the 1st Edition of A CHECKLIST OF KENTUCKY CABINETMAKERS FROM 1775 TO 1859, a very scarce cabinetmaker reference and one of the few places this information was published. Edna Talbott Whitley was born in 1891 in Paris, Kentucky to Robert C. Talbott, a lawyer, and Sallie Scott Grimes. Edna married Wade Hampton Whitley in 1909. Edna became a Kentucky historian and published works including Kentucky Ante-Bellum Portraiture in 1956, George Berk an Eighteenth Century Painter, and in 1969 she compiled this list of cabinetmakers in Kentucky.

Description:
Privately published (undated, likely 1st Edition). Softcover, 4-1/2"x8-1/4". Pages age tanned, but clean and unmarked. Cover has a slight water stain top right corner and is bent at top and bottom. Sewn text block intact; spine extremities a bit frayed; edges of covers worn, with a few tiny, closed tears at the edges; cover glued to the text block, fragile at the front hinge.

ABOUT THE BOOK: "These paragraphs and other sketches are compiled from Jessie Perry Stratford's column--Human Interest--in the El Dorado (Kansas) Times and are reproduced as they appeared thruout (sic) the years, with few dates given. Some persons mentioned are years older--others but one month older--than when the paragraphs were originally published. So it is an ageless book. The unstudied humor of children is universally entertaining and many of the paragraphs in WHEN THEY WERE VERY YOUNG have been copied in other publications--some having made the rounds from Clad Hamilton Thompson's columns in The Kansas City Star to the… Read More

A TAB Club Book (Teen Age Book Club), an affiliate of Scholastic Magazines (1st thus, #T67, 1957). Softcover. Covers show general shelf wear, but colors are bright and there are no chips or tears. The binding is tight and the spine is uncreased; it does not appear to have been opened and read. Clean and unmarked, pages age tanned. Cover illustration by Mary Jane Dunton. (R) From the back cover: "Junk it!"--the insurance man said. Hap first saw the red M.G. in French's garage. Enormous silvery wire wheels--rakish scarlet body. It had a personality all its own--arrogant, insolent, challenging. When Hap saw the other side he groaned; crushed, caved in. "It cost you fifty dollars," said Frenchy. Hap's head swam dizzily. Could he find a way to make the RED CAR sing and race again--for him?
