Garnier Freres, 1790. Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket. French text. The boards are quite shelf rubbed, edge worn and marked, with the spine lightly damaged, but they remain strong and square in spite of this. Internally, there is an ex-libris plate under the front board and a previous owner's signature on the front end page. The end pages are tanned and there is very light, sporadic foxing throughout, but there are no other markings or inscriptions, and the pages within are neat and complete. The binding is secure. JK. Fairly clean tight texts with an occasional chip in margin of a few pages and some text edge spotting. Likely contemporary half leather and paper covered boards. Spines have decorated gold rules and twin leather title labels (which appear original). Some plates bit spotted and poorly folded. Some damage to leather spine edges at covers (some looking to be caused by worm but no internal damage). So just a good woking set. . Hardback. Good/No DW.

They are also the first group to tell a collective story of Peace Corps volunteers, anywhere. The Peace Corps was in its infancy then, and memories of John Kennedy were strong among the young volunteers. Sierra Leone was also in its infancy in the first few years after independence, before military coups and tribal warfare became common. This book is an antique but it is in poor condition. The binding is loose and peeling off the spine of this book. The cover is worn substantially on the edged, corners and all over. The previous owners name is written on the inside front board and the front end page. The inside pages are yellowed and tanned and the page is torn. Wear to bottom and top of spine. Gilded lettering and design is intact, design on spine is worn towards the bottom however. Corners show bumping and wear, only slightly worn through.

A useful working copy. [Andre was an explorer and collector of natural history specimens .
