NY: Oxford University Press. 1974. 487pp. The book has fading on the top and bottom edges of the boards, most noticeably at the top of the spine. The bottom 1/8" of the spine shows a tiny bit of shelf crumpling. The d.j. leaves much to be desired. There are chips and tears, including a 3" tear up the front flap hinge, 1" tear at the top front, and tears on the open corners. There are chips at the front bottom, top front hinge and open corners, bottom and top of the backstrip, and - the really bad one - a chunk missing from the rear. Also, the d.j. shows fading on the spine and both front and rear. See pictures. The previous owner's bookplate with signature is pasted opposite the title page. (53660) . Very Good. 0195017382 . Three documents from Norfolk and Western: (1) "Data on N & W Railway Company" includes numbers of cars/locomotives; average salaries/wages; tax information; coal shipments; car production; and more, for 1949. The document is dated April 12, 1950. (2) A 4-page "circular letter" from the Road Foreman of Engines regarding proper operation of diesel engines dated November 11, 1957. (3) A 4-page "Roster of Steam Locomotives 1954 to 1958" lists hundreds of locomotives, their build years, type/class, number, and retirement dates, if applicable. These type-written documents are a bit soiled and clearly used, but they provide an interesting snapshot of 1950's railroad life. (56282) . Good.
