This copy is in Fair condition, with significant wear to the cloth covers, and extensive foxing on the first pages, though the interior pages are essentially free of blemish. The binding is somewhat loose, but the quires are tightly together and there are no loose pages evident. Given the size and weight of this book, extra shipping will be required.

Description:
Gershom Williams' novel follows Mark as he grows up in Jamaica during its struggle for independence and is inspired by the thought of Marcus Garvey. This particular edition is in Very Good condition, with some staining to the pastedowns and some minor foxing to the tops of the pages. The dust jacket is present and is in Good condition with two small tears to the top and bottom of the front, both less that half an inch in length. This would appear to be an advanced reader copy perhaps, as included with it are a photo of the author, a slip from Exposition Press Inc. indicating the publication date of Nov 16, 1973 and requesting that reviews not be released prior to that date and a press release.

Description:
This is volume five of Thomas Babington Macaulay's five volume History of England. Macaulay (1800-1859) was a Whig politician who began writing his five volume history after stepping back from politics.
The five volumes cover English history beginning in 1688 and ending in 1702. The approach to history taken in his work is reflective of a particular interpretation of English history, of which Macaulay was considered one of the founders, and reflects Whig attitudes of the time.
This fifth volume was published posthumously after having been edited by Macaulay's sister Hannah. It begins from the accession of James I and ends in 1702 with the death of William III.
This copy is in poor condition, with significant discolouration to the front cover and spine. There is some cracking to the front hinge and some tearing to the front flyleaf. Internally, the text is in excellent condition and is entirely legible.

Including various historical works of prose and verse both written by and about the English monarch, the text is accompanied by images of them gathered together by Joy Law, the Publications and Exhibitions Officer at the royal College of Art. Many of the images included have rarely been published, and amongst them are included a wide variety of styles, from portraits to cartoons.
The book was further designed by J.M. Gibson, a graduate of the Royal College of Art, and "sets a new standard for the integration of text and illustrations."
This volume is in good condition with a dust jacket also in good condition. There is some tearing and creasing to the dust jacket, both at the top edges, and particularly at the lower edge of the spine. Internally, there are no… Read More

Description:
The playwright John Coulter was born in Belfast in 1888. His first plays were produced in Dublin and London, and he began to write for the BBC in the 1920s. In 1936 he moved to Toronto where he remained, and helped to found the Canada Council and the Stratford Festival.
This volume contains two of his best comic plays, which invoke the unique character of his Irish origins.
The House in the Quiet Glen was originally called Sally's Choice and was his first professionally produced play for the BBC in 1925. It was renamed, and went on to great success at the Canadian Dominion Drama Festival in 1937. Based on local stories told to him in the mountains of the Clogher Valley, Ireland, much of its dialogue was recorded verbatim by him, and communicates the unique colour of the local mixture of Gaelic and English.
The Family Portrait was written as a sequel to The House in the Quiet Glen, and was produced by BBC Radio in 1935.
