Original 136 page shooting script for the film noir motion picture, Pick-Up, written by Hugo Haas and Arnold Phillips, based on the play by Josef Kopta. The film was directed by Hugo Haas, and starred Hugo Haas, Beverly Michaels, Allan Nixon , and Howland Chamberlain. Bradbound. Very good copy with some minor edge wear and spotting to the covers, not affecting the interior. Haas and Phillips were nominated for a WGA Award (Screen) for Best Written American Low-Budget Motion Picture. A film noir tale of lust and murder between a modest middle-aged man and an ambitious young beauty with an insatiable appetite for the finer things in life.

Signed by actress Kristenna Loken who played ‘T-X’ or ‘Terminatrix’: “Kristenna Loken ‘TX’ The Terminator.” Laid in is a 7” x 5” color photograph of the lovely Ms. Loken signing the book, taken in Burbank, CA on April 25, 2009. As new in an as new bright dust jacket. The novel of the third ‘Terminator’ film, directed by Jonathan Mostow, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger as a machine from the future, upon whose impressive shoulders rests the survival of the world and the human race. With Nick Stahl as resistance fighter John Connor, Claire Danes, David Andrews, and Mark Famiglietti. The film is set at the dawning of Judgment Day, when the most advanced Terminator unit ever, the T-X, is sent from the future to ensure the victory of the machines over humans.

London: Hutchinson, 1927. First British Edition. Laid in is a small paper note (2 3/4” x 1 3/8”) signed and inscribed by the author: “Very truly yours, H. Rider Haggard.” Ownership inscription dated 1927. Very good copy with a little foxing to the outside edges and a few preliminary pages, some minor edge wear and some slight fading and rubbing to the spine in a very good lightly spotted dust jacket with some shallow chips and tiny tears. Scarce in the striking color pictorial dust jacket.

London: Cassell, 1885. First Edition, Second State. Signed, inscribed, and dated in the year of publication by the author H. Rider Haggard at the half-title: “ To Mr. Palmer from H. Rider Haggard, December, 1885”. With the folding color facsimile map fully intact, inserted as a frontispiece, and a black and white map on page 27. Some darkening to the red cloth, mostly at the spine, with a tiny bit of strengthening and with some edge wear and light handling without dust jacket. Inspired by Treasure Island, Haggard set out to write an adventure story for boys, and succeeded in creating one for adults too.

A little foxing to endpapers, some soiling and rubbing to original cloth, former owner’s signature, some evidence of a removed label on rear pastedown, very good plus in a facsimile dust jacket with the artiwork showing the ice age man holding aloft a severed head. An Allan Quartemain story which takes place many thousands of years ago during one of Allan’s early incarnations and involves pre-historic adventure and romance. The American edition was published simultaneously with the British edition.

The memoirs of silent film star Georgia Hale’s relationship with Charles Chaplin, as the lovely heroine in his comic masterpiece ‘The Gold Rush’ and as his off-screen companion. With stories of well-known personalities of the times, including Marion Davies, Sergei Eisenstein, Ralph Barton, Albert Einstein, and Oona O’Neill, whom Chaplin married in 1943. With passages from Hale’s previously unpublished correspondence with Chaplin and with illustrations from the Chaplin archive, most of which are published here for the first time.

Dr. Enoch served as President of New American Library - Signet Books which became one of the successful and acclaimed post-war publishing houses. Enoch went on to become one of the most highly regarded figures in American book publishing. Victor Weybright (1903-1978) was an American writer and publisher who helped Kurt Enoch run Penguin Books Inc., subsequently co-founding with him the publishing company New American Library in 1948. Actor Jon Hall’s copy of an original 61 page story outline with location shots for an action/adventure television series ‘Manolo of the Seven Seas’ which was shot as a pilot in 1958, but was never produced. With “Jon Hall Location Shots” on the front cover and Hall’s occasional notations in red pencil throughout. Bradbound. Lightly used copy with a bit of dust soiling to the covers, not affecting the interior, in printed wrappers. Jon Hall is best remembered for his role as the romantic lead character, Terangi, opposite Dorothy Lamour in John Ford’s film The Hurricane (1937). His career capitalized on that success, with more films set in the South Seas, such as South of Pago Pago, Aloma of the South Seas, and On the Isle of Samoa.
