Near fine copy with a hint of handling in a very good slightly dust soiled dust jacket with a few small chips and tears. Winner of the Pulitzer Prize. The basis of the 1977 mini-series on ABC starring Levar Burton as Kunta Kinte, Leslie Uggams, and Ben Vereen which received 37 Emmy nominations and won 9. It was also awarded a Golden Globe. It was also adapted into a 2016 mini-series for the History channel with Malachi Kirby as Kunta Kinte, Forest Whitaker, Anna Paquin, Laurence Fishburne, Mekhi Phifer, and Jonathan Rhys Meyers.
Synopsis
Tracing his ancestry through six generations - slaves and freedmen, farmers and blacksmiths, lawyers and architects - back to Africa, Alex Haley discovered a sixteen-year-old youth, Kunta Kinte. It was this young man, who had been torn from his homeland and in torment and anguish brought to the slave markets of the New World, who held the key to Haley's deep and distant past.
