Simultaneously published with the Oxford hardcover edition, this paperback (274 pp) is in VG condition with some fading to covers and staining to top pages. INSCRIBED by Aiken to noted woodcut artist, printmaker, designer, and author Clare Leighton: “for Clare con amore from Conrad 1964.” In 1963, both Aiken and Leighton contributed to the edition Poetry in Crystal By Steuben Glass, interpretations in crystal of thirty-one poems by contemporary American poets. Aiken contributed a poem “Harvest Morning” and Leighton contributed an engraving design to accompany another poem. A wonderful association copy between this National Book Award winner and prized artist known for her woodblock engravings.
