A wonderful book and this copy is one of an unspecified but limited number signed in pencil by both the artist and the poet, at the front endpaper. Book and dustjacket both in superb condition, presents as a like-new copy.

The author also penned a number of thrillers under the pseudonym Gavin Black. The unclipped, atmospheric dustjacket has some moderate rubbing to the edges and the spine tips and is split at the corners with trifling loss but is still eye-catching and presents well.

First Printing. 324 pp. Lightly pushed at the spine tips and bumped at the corners of the lower cover. At the front endpaper there is a gift inscription (two lines, name and date). Text-block toned commensurate with age only. The book is square and tight with no reading creases to the backstrip. The dustjacket is unclipped but the original price has been inexpertly scraped off. No nicks or tears to the edges or corners, some colour fading to the spine and also the rear panel but overall a VG dustjacket. A nice copy, SIGNED and inscribed without dedication ("Best Wishes, Willie McIlvanney") for the seller in person. Now a genuinely scarce title. particluarly signed.
