Also included is a section on hunting, primarily relating to foxes and the training of dogs. GOOD condition, apparently disbound from a larger volume. LACKING wrap on spine. Moderate foxing to the covers, with some soiling and general fading. Interior solid with browning along the extremities and scattered foxing/minor staining throughout.

Orange brown cloth in unclipped jacket. 207 pp. A work, presumably for a juvenile audience chronicling ranch life and the training of an Arabian horse to become a cutting horse. By John Richard Young, a noted equestrian and horse trainer, who wrote several books on training horses. GOOD condition. Jacket a bit toned, with some scuffing and minor soiling. Small tear at the top of front jacket panel. Small area of staining to the lower right front corner of the book. Minor fading.

London: Forster Groom and Co, 1926. Cloth. Good. Flexible green cloth covers. 138 pp. With a few black and white photos and illustrations. A guide to all aspects of the horse, from physical characteristics to demeanor, as well as a guide to the various breeds, breeding of horses, etc. GOOD condition. Moderate uneven fading to the covers. Minor soiling. A few small areas of discoloration/staining. Owner's name handwritten on the front cover and first page. Covers curling along the fore edge.

Budapest, Hungary: Corvina Press, 1978. Hard Cover. Good/No Jacket. No dust jacket. A work of black and white photos presenting horses in various acitivites. With a brief text introduction, in English and French, in the beginning. In GOOD+ condition. Mostly minor soiling to the covers. Some scuffing. Some bumping with a split to the head of the spine, affecting the only the outer glossy paper. A few other minor scuffs along the extremities. Interior clean and solid.

Shelburne, VT: The Shelburne Museum, 1974. Trade Paperback. Good. 96 pages, with many black and white photos throughout. A photo collection of carriages in the Shelburne Museum, accompanied by short text captions giving the history and significance of the carriages. GOOD condition with minor to moderate soiling to the covers. Some scuffing and creasing along the extremities. Inner text clean although the pages had been stuck together near the lower corner, now separated but with slight chafing to a few of the pages in that locale. Reading copy in GOOD condition.

Boston: American Humane Education Society. Wraps. Good. no date, circa 1885 (according to OCLC records). Illustrated pale orange wraps. 56 pp. Black and white illustrations throughout. A guide to the proper care of horse book, but also including poetry and anecdotes. The first tip in the book discusses how to kill a horse humanely, and then proceeds to provide horse care taken from other sources. FAIR/GOOD condition. Small white price sticker on the lower front cover. Uneven fading, minor to moderate soiling and a few areas of staining to the covers. Some creasing. A few pencil doodles to the first few pages. Ad CUT OUT on leaf 53/54.

Toledo: J.W. Hewitt Mfg. Co., Publisher. Unbound. Good. no date, presumed early 1890s. Single sheet, tri-folding. 9 ½ by 6 inches. Two illustrations of a sulky cart present. An advertisement for a horse drawn sulky cart made by J.W. Hewitt Mfg. Company of Toledo, Ohio, with two illustrations of it, as well as a description of its construction and color, as well as its intended use. Statement of patents also present. GOOD condition. General browning. A few creases present. Remains of a paper label present on one panel. Minor soiling.

Boston: Charles T. Branford Company, 1948. Cloth. Good/Good. Stated second printing. Brown cloth in unclipped jacket. 180 pp., plus several black and white photos in the rear. Photos throughout. A collection of twelve lessons building progressively on each to teach riding horsemanship, incorporating traditional elements of instruction into a different form and method. Sergei Kournakoff was a former tsarist cavalry officer, who immigrated to the US after fighting in the Russian Civil War. He subsequently wrote on military and other subjects in various US communist papers, and was eventually revealed to be an agent for Soviet intelligence in the US (after his death). GOOD condition. Jacket toned, with minor soiling and few small areas of discoloration. Some scuffing and tearing along the extremities. Minor fading and soiling to the book. Previous owner's signature on the first endpaper.

A general work on horses, horsemanship and riding, including sections on the selection and care of horses; riding, including mounting, position, etc.; a section on elementary jumping, equipment, etc. GOOD condition. General fading. Minor soiling and scuffing, with a small area of mottling to the cloth along the lower front cover.

Illustrations of horse drawn carriages throughout. A catalog issued by the New Eureka Carriage and Harness Company of Cincinnati, Ohio, providing illustrations and descriptions of various surrey style horse drawn carriages. GOOD condition. Vertical fold crease present. Residue/stain from a small sticker on the upper front cover. Minor toning and soiling.

Side folding tabloid newspaper. 8 pp. Edited by William Porter, the Spirit of the Times was a popular weekly newspaper from New York, discussing theater, horse racing as well as publishing humorous, satirical and fictional pieces. This issue mostly devoted to horses and horse races, including a lengthy article on the New Orleans Jockey Club and races, as well as reporting on horses in the Stud Book. GOOD condition. Unopened along the top edge. Moderate toning with foxing and some soiling. Several large areas of staining. Moderate creasing, wrinkling and edgewear. Horizontal and vertical fold creases present.

An advertisement for those who have horses to be bred with Dagger, for five dollars a "service", plus twenty dollars when the mare proves a foal. Included is a lengthy description of Dagger and the prizes it won at various state fairs in New Hampshire and Vermont, as well as a long chart showing the pedigree of Dagger. GOOD condition. Two horizontal fold creases present. Moderate creasing and browning, with minor soiling and staining. A few tears along the folds and extremities.
