Notable memoirs of the English miscellaneous writer; includes references to such celebrities as James Boswell, Lord Byron, Lord Chesterfield, Colley Cibber, David Garrick, Charles Macklin, the Duke of Marlborough, Richard Brinsley Sheridan, William Thomson, and others. With 2-page publisher's catalogue at front. Wear to spine (chiefly at foot of spine and spine edges); outer and inner hinges cracked and weakening; stains and rubbing to covers (chiefly to extremities); some internal browning, creasing and/or foxing (chiefly to preliminaries and edges); else a fairly serviceable copy. Taylor (1757-1832), English author and editor, famous in his time for the dramatic poem 'Monsieur Tonson' (1821); dramatic critic of 'The Morning Post' (and later its editor); proprietor of 'The True Briton' and 'The Sun'.

Original printed paper covers: rubbed, edge-worn and darkened; nevertheless complete and still in good condition, albeit somewhat grubby. Contents age dulled but generally clean and tidy: no loose pages, no pen-marks. Sewn joints holding well. Size: 165mm x 105mm. Pages: 19, and [3] adverts at the rear, complete with frontispiece and six further illustrative plates. Genuine first edition. Scarce.
