Notable memoirs of the English miscellaneous writer; includes references to such celebrities as James Boswell, Lord Byron, Lord Chesterfield, Colley Cibber, David Garrick, Charles Macklin, the Duke of Marlborough, Richard Brinsley Sheridan, William Thomson, and others. With 2-page publisher's catalogue at front. Wear to spine (chiefly at foot of spine and spine edges); outer and inner hinges cracked and weakening; stains and rubbing to covers (chiefly to extremities); some internal browning, creasing and/or foxing (chiefly to preliminaries and edges); else a fairly serviceable copy. Taylor (1757-1832), English author and editor, famous in his time for the dramatic poem 'Monsieur Tonson' (1821); dramatic critic of 'The Morning Post' (and later its editor); proprietor of 'The True Briton' and 'The Sun'.
