Cover noticeably shelfworn with age - corners bumped, fraying to edges throughout. Spine starting to fade. Page edges were likely once gilted, but are a duller gold color now. Binding cracked but all pages remain intact. Remnants from previous torn-out bookplate on front endpaper, with previous owner's name handwritten. Light foxing and yellowing to page edges. Text clean and unmarked. Good reading copy of a turn-of-the-century book.

Sage-green cloth pictorially stamped in gilt, dark green and red, blind stamped rules on rear. Brown endpapers; 8 full-page b&w illustrations. One-inch tear at bottom of outer rear hinge, spine ends and corners a bit worn, outer hinges a bit rubbed, spine slightly sunned and a tad cocked. Nonetheless, a solid, internally clean copy with the striking cover stamping still surprisingly bright.
