This book was listed for middle school children. I wanted to read it before I gave it to my grandchildren. The book was well written and an interesting story line. The language, food, tradition, folklore, and the character of Izzy does bring the culture of New Mexico to life beautifully. The element of magic in the story makes it a page turner.
