About This Item
Pleasantville: Reader's Digest, 1936. Magazine. VG. Soft cover. 12mo. Entire February issue, Volume 28, No. 166, in original blue wraps with gilt decoration, printed in black, light general wear, small closed tear at top spine edge of front wrap neatly repaired, crease noted along spine edge. Short excerpt at page 42 from an article that appeared in Esquire Magazine, January, 1936. Curiously, the article is not listed on the front cover of the issue. A warning to Mussolini and the Italian troops in North Africa that if they are not killed upon being shot down by the Allies they better roll over face-down lest they have their eyes picked out by vultures and other carrion birds who lay in wait hovering above the battlefields. Issue includes in the Book Supplement section a piece called Antarctic Night, from Richard Evelyn Byrd's recently published book, Discovery, and a contribution from Sherwood Anderson.
