New York: Viking Press, 1962. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. Very Good in a Very Good jacket, unclipped ($4.95), generally toned, a few shallow chips at the head and foot of the spine. White cloth on the boards, toned at the spine and edges, with brown and black ink designs and lettering. Square and firmly bound with an orange top stain, a few random underlinings throughout. Steinbeck's account of his travels with his titular poodle to "rediscover" the America he feared he had forgotten.
Synopsis
Travels with Charley: In Search of America is a travelogue by American author John Steinbeck. It documents the road trip he took with his French standard poodle Charley around the United States, in 1960. He wrote that he was moved by a desire to see his country on a personal level, since he made his living writing about it.
