London : Longman, Hurst, Rees and Orme, 1808 A fair to good copy of the second revised edition of Dr Barry's comprehensive account of the Orkney Islands in contemporary full leather binding. With folding map and 11 full page plates. The binding has gilt-lined raised bands, decorative gilt compartments and title label to spine, with titles and gilt border to front board. It is clean, but with wear to corners (with leather loss), and the top and bottom of the spine. There is splitting at the front spine joint. The endpapers are marbled, with the armorial bookplate of F Monteith Ogilvie to the front pastedown, and the decorative bookplate of John Davie Manson Robertson, a noted Orcadian book collection to the fep. Very Good, the calf rubbed and soiled. Both volumes with frontis engravings and engraved title pages, Vol. I with 7 engravings in text, Vol. II with 13 in text.
