First edition, first issue with page 242 lines 20-21 with the words "he" and "his" present; Page 156 has a capital "T" for "Trees", and "thirteenth" instead of "sixteenth"; Page 330 line 23 has "Eastern" that was corrected to "eastern"; Though no priority has been established, this copy has the advertisement present on page 592, as in the surviving copyright deposit copy (BAL 3337). Additionally, this copy has perfect undamaged type at the following pages: xi.1 (M in My is perfect); 19.1 (y is perfect); and 123.6up (death!). Very good plus condition in the publisher's original black cloth pictorial boards. Hinges and edges of the boards professionally repaired with mending paper. Gilt lettering and illustrations on the front board and spine are very well preserved. Previous owner's name on the front pastedown. Synopsis
Roughing It is a book of semi-autobiographical travel literature written by American humorist Mark Twain. It was written during 1870–71 and published in 1872 as a prequel to his first book Innocents Abroad. This book tells of Twain's adventures prior to his pleasure cruise related in Innocents Abroad. Roughing It follows the travels of young Mark Twain through the Wild West during the years 1861–1867.
