Description:
New York: Dell, [1948]., 1948. First edition. First Dell Mapback movie tie-in edition, Dell No. 262. 12mo in color pictorial wrappers showing photograph of James Stewart against Art Deco city-scape on front wrapper and pictorial map of murder apartment on rear wrapper. 144 pp. Two young men, Brandon Shaw and Phillip Morgan, strangle to death their former classmate in their Manhattan penthouse apartment. They commit the crime as an intellectual exercise; they want to prove their superiority by committing the "perfect murder." After hiding the body in a large antique wooden chest, which acts as a buffet table, Brandon and Phillip host a dinner party at their apartment. As the evening continues, their old teacher begins to suspect foul play. Hitchcock's psychological thriller stars James Stewart, John Dall, and Farley Granger. Neat ownership label of Hiro Wakabayashi (1930-2017), Japanese-American and Korean War veteran on front pastedown, else a fine, bright copy.

N.p.: N.p., 1948. Vintage publicity photograph of the Mystery Writers of America's (MWA) endorsement of Hitchcock's 1948 film, showing (right to left) MWA President Lawrence Blockman, author Veronica Parker Johns, Alfred Hitchcock, author Audrey Roos, author Edward Radin, and author Clayton Rawson, with cropping annotations and the annotations of names in the margins of the recto. Based on Patrick Hamilton's 1929 play, which was in turn based on a murder committed by Nathan Leopold and Richard Loeb in 1924. Two young men living together in a New York apartment decide to kill their former classmate to prove their intellectual and aesthetic superiority. As they grow increasingly daring and proud of their "perfect murder," their close friends and associates begin to suspect something is awry. Hitchcock's first Technicolor feature, one of the director's most experimental films, now rightfully considered an undisputed classic. Set in New York. 10 x 8 inches. Very Good, with light creasing overall,…
