Book had no spine and 4 worn cnrs : all now repaired with a printed title on spine. Description is somewhat of a problem. There is no list of illustrations, no complete pagination, no Index and no Contents p. The title p calls for 20 illustrations - there are beautiful full p illustrations with captions, but only 16 and no signs at all of any illus having been removed. The introduction consists of 7 pages of history. This could be a third volume of Jones' Illustrations, for which the Editor/ publisher forgot to make a new title page. But, more likely, because there are no descriptions on pages opposite the illustrations, this book is ideal for breaking, which was probably the whole idea. I cannot see another copy with this published date so it is VERY rare.
