First edition with the errata on page xiv; with "William" for "Frederick" on page 317 line 27; with "Rigaud" instead of "Blandois" from pages 469 to 473; and with signature BB2 misprinted as "B2" on page 371. With the bookplate of the Marchese di Calvatone Sommi Picenardi. Old bookstore label affixed on the front free endpaper. Some stains to covers, stain affecting lower corner of boards and of leaves, previous owner's name to front pastedown endpaper and to title page, small wormhole to front pastedown endpaper. A very good copy. In the Italian language. ; Octavo.

This book is bound with leather covers and a cloth spine. There is a label on the front cover which is not readable. New endsheets have been added at some point in the book's long history, but the original endsheets and covers are present. There is a former owner's inscription on the original front endsheet. Pages are intact and the binding is tight. The book contains black & white drawings of muscles, bones, and bandages. There is an index for medicines and an extensive table of contents of body parts, diseases, syndromes, and treatments. Printed in the year 1846, the book itself is, in essence, a time capsule that portrays how medicine was practiced aboard an early nineteenth century sailing ship. This will make a wonderful addition to the library of the collector of medical memorabilia.
