About This Item

Chicago: Normandie House, 1939. First edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. First edition, limited to 1,000 copies. Published just weeks after The Grapes of Wrath, this is the first critical examination of the life and work of John Steinbeck (1902-1968), encompassing all of his works up to and including The Grapes of Wrath. Includes a bibliographical checklist of first editions and a map of Steinbeck Country. Original green cloth binding, with gilt lettering. Some general minor wear to the dust jacket, with a small bookseller's label to the rear flap and a few tape reinforcements to the verso; otherwise a very good copy. Goldstone, A. & J. Payne: John Steinbeck: A Bibliographical Catalogue, #F6.
