Valentine & Sons, Ltd, Edinburgh, circa 1905; 16mo, (2 1/2" x 3 1/8"),186 pages; illustrated; plaid cloth; all page edges gilt; gilt morocco title label. The complete six cantos of Sir Walter Scott’s great narrative poem Marmion, including the closing "L’Envoy to the reader." No printed publication date. Brief inscription on front paste down dated August, 1905, Melrose, Scotland, just a few miles East of Scott’s Abbotsford home. Frontispiece portrait of the author, plus 11 additional illustration plates of Scottish scenes. Beautifully bound in padded Campbell tartan. Fine and handsome. Clean, crisp, bright, all gilt brilliant. A charming miniature.
