New York: Harper & Brothers, 1871. Three volumes bound in contemporary half calf over marbled boards, pale orange and green morocco labels with gilt lettering back, end papers and edges marbled. Near Fine, staining at edges of end papers, most likely happening during the original marbling process. A lovely, clean and unmarked set, and SCARCE THUS. Henry Lord Brougham (1778-1868) was a Scottish lawyer, education pioneer, co-founder of the Edinburgh Review, and Whig statesman who became Lord Chancellor in 1830. He was also a noted anti-slavery reformer. Additional postage required for international orders- please inquire. . First American Edition. Half Calf.
