London: Chapman & Hall, 1839. Single volume.Half red leather with marbled boards, 5 raised bands to spines with gilt ruling to leather margins Gilt spine titles. All closed edges marbled. Some surface wear to edges and corners. Spotting to frontispiece and 3 of the plates and pages facing them. Other plates present and rest of contents clean. Publisher's imprint on plates up to page 25. The hinge at the half-title page can be lifted to reveal remains of the green cover from the part-issue from which the book was bound. Other errors are present - "visiter" on page 123; "latter" page160; "inscribed" on page 238; "incontestible" on page 297; "flys" on page 245. Photos of the book are.available.. First Edition. Synopsis

Nicholas Nickleby is left responsible for his mother and sister when his father dies. The novel follows his attempt to succeed in supporting them, despite his uncle Ralph's antagonistic lack of belief in him. It is one of Dickens' early comic novels.
