A tight very near fine copy in creme colored printed wrappers that are very lightly soiled. The trade edition had a first printing of 100,000 copies and the proof would have been done in a tiny fraction of that.

Rare/collectible.Ex-library with a sticker on the front (photo 2). The binding is good and the book is clean inside with nice photos throughout. However it looks like a page has been torn out before the title page (see photo 3).

First edition thus. Eight vintage children's tales illustrated by the Stovers. The title story for this collection was originally published in 1904 by G.W. Dillingham, telling the story of the two titular characters as they escape from the Broadway theater where they are appearing. Denslow created this work, which makes no reference to Baum's story – just the Broadway show – as part of their on-going dispute due to their sharing the copyright on The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
