About This Item
Synopsis
The birth of Jesus has been well chronicled, as have his glorious teachings, acts, and divine sacrifice after his thirtieth birthday. But no one knows about the early life of the Son of God, the missing years -- except Biff, the Messiah's best bud, who has been resurrected to tell the story in the divinely hilarious yet heartfelt work "reminiscent of Vonnegut and Douglas Adams" (Philadelphia Inquirer).Verily, the story Biff has to tell is a miraculous one, filled with remarkable journeys, magic, healings, kung fu, corpse reanimations, demons, and hot babes. Even the considerable wiles and devotion of the Savior's pal may not be enough to divert Joshua from his tragic destiny. But there's no one who loves Josh more -- except maybe "Maggie," Mary of Magdala -- and Biff isn't about to let his extraordinary pal suffer and ascend without a fight.
Reviews
one of my absolute favorite books by one of my absolute favorite authors. irreverent and well-researched. silly and heartfelt. fun and informative. yes, informative. this book made me want to go read about the actual history of jesus.
christopher moore is one of my go to authors when i want a light, humorous read that also has a good story and perhaps a bit of mystery. there are laugh out loud funny moments in this book as well as serious character development.
such an interesting concept, what was jesus up to from childhood to his early 30s? this book takes the reader on an adventurous romp to various locations and introduces intriguing characters as jesus works his way to becoming, well, jesus.
the first christopher moore book i ever read was the stupidest angel, after hearing an interview with the author on the radio. i was hooked. as i would eventually learn, there is often crossover with this author's works and so it was interesting to see more of a character i knew from the stupidest angel.
short story long i easily give this book 5 stars.
