For the most part, pages are clean, unmarked, and tight with a small stain or smudge here and there; light soiling on outer edges of textblocks with gilt upper edges a little scratched but still shiny; covers are strong with mild buckling of spines, wear at ends of spines, and small stains; front hinge on Volume 3 has a small crack and the front flyleaf is creased; Volumes 4 and 5 have bumped corners and Volume 5 has a 1" tear at upper front spine

Navy cloth, gilt lettering & designs front covers & spines. Slight rubbing to some edges otherwise fine; light age-toning; clean; unmarked. Near Fine.

Doubleday Page, NY, 1918., 1918. Hardcover. Very Good/No Dj. Quartos, hardcovers, all four copies are VG with dark blue embossed cloth and bright gilt design and lettering on cover. Spines are lightly sunned and Vol. 2 has small tear on spine (about 1/4") Vol. 3 has back hinge starting. Each has tissue over colored frontispiece and very clean inside. Endpapers are in color of WW I era airplanes. Each over 400 pp. A really nice set of history books for WW I, well preserved from 1918.

Garden City: Doubleday, Page & Company, for the Review of Reviews Company, 1917. Hardcover. 5 vols. A complete set of five hardcover books bound in blue cloth with pretty gilt lettering. Very good condition overall. The spines of the first three volumes are faded. Owner's stamped signature and "Cancelled" stamp inside each volume. Otherwise, text clean and binding secure across the set. A contemporary account of World War I, illustrated with lots of black and white photographs and featuring color endpapers.
