London, UK & NY: J.M. Dent / E.P.Dutton & Company, 1905. Oversize Hardbound. GOOD+. 196 indexed and slightly age tanned pages including 50 tipped in color prints plus Frontispiece, on glossy paper. Blue Boards with gilt tiles on spine and front and gilt flower design. Top edge gilt, deckle edge on side and bottom. 4 page sections with collation numbers show some gaps between them but no page loosening. Rubbing to edges, corners and spine ends. Spine ends are softened and top one has a small chip. Some light spotting on cover. Free endpapers are severely age tanned. Only title page shows foxing. Beautiful full page, water color sketches identifying both the flower and location shown. No dust jacket. "Various modern garden writers have...already laid stress on the importance of colour-effect in our gardens...this book is offered with the hope that the addition of sketches in colour to the writings of well-known authorities...may be of real practical assistance...most of the illustrations have been painted from our own or other small gardens, giving effects which are within the reach of many." 10-5/8x8-1/4" (27x21cm). Oversize and heavy - may require additional postage for Priority or International shipping.
