Pages are mildly tanned with minimal foxing. Mild cracking to gutters, however binding remains firm. Visible thumb-marking present. Boards have light edgewear with corner crushing and notable marking to boards. Notable tanning to spine, which has mild crushing to ends. Library number to spine. Book has forward lean. Mild denting to front board.

The boards of our copy have been bent across the top, causing a crease, endpapers and contents unmarked, binding strong; very good. Dust jacket is rubbed at the folds, light edge-chipping and soiling - still in quite good condition. The art deco dust jacket is signed in the plate 'T.Nadyen' (Theodore Nedejen, 1889-1974, a noted book illustrator and artist). 'The eminent Dr. Artz had two specialties. Very good plus with slight shelf wear and a bit of foxing to first few pages and page edges. In a beautiful near-fine dust jacket with the barest trace of foxing and one tiny closed tear. A tongue-in-cheek mystery with supernatural elements. Hichins also wrote The Paradine Case, basis for the Hitchcock film.
