About This Item

Different Seasons by Stephen King (author of The Dark Tower: Gunslinger, Carrie, Salem's Lot, the Stand, the Shining, etc) Illustrated by John Eli. Hardcover First Limited Illustrated Edition Yorkshire, UK: PS Publishing, 2023 Hardcover Deluxe Edition of only 1000 illustrated copies, signed by the illustrator. (There was no author-signed issue) Without question, the best edition of this book ever published. The original first edition was published by Viking US and Macdonald UK in 1982.

Includes "Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption", "The Body" (aka "Stand By Me"), "Apt Pupil" and "The Breathing Method". The first seven pictures are of the actual book for sale, and the last two are from PS Publishing's website. Part of the PS Publishing series of Stephen King deluxe and illustrated editions which include "The Stand", "Salem's Lot", "Thinner", "The Dead Zone", "The Tommyknockers", "Needful Things", etc.

Note on the Publishing History: Stephen King wrote these four novellas, probably for himself more than anything else. They were too short to be stand-alone novels but too long to be published in magazines. There was a new young editor at Viking when King presented these to him as his next publication. Apparently, the new editor was less-than-enthusiastic as these novellas were not King's typical horror fair which was making him a superstar in publishing and making a fortune for Viking-Penguin. Story goes, the editor asked King what else he was working on and King replied a novel about a haunted car which would become "Christine". The editor said "My man!" Viking went ahead and published the four novellas in a single hardcover volume albeit sort of reluctantly. "Different Seasons" would go on to become one of King's most successful accomplishments. Three of the four novellas were made into films, two of which were critically acclaimed with award nominations.

Also: Dust Jacket covers can be added if desired.
