In a Baker A Son of Clifton binding, for the Clifton College. The college's crest and motto is gilt stamped to the front board. Prize bookplate to front pastedown indicates prior owner to be a J K Clark who won the book for Latin Prose in 1904. This book is a collection of four lectures on industry and war. The lectures are titled 'Work', 'Traffic', 'War' and 'the future of England'. His lecture 'Traffic' was widely admired and relates to taste and morality. John Ruskin was the leading English art critic of the Victorian era. He was also a prominent social thinker and philanthropist who wrote essays and treatises on several subjects.
