Bound in speckled paper-covered boards (scuffed with minor loss to edges, spine, and rear board), all edges stained red. The binding is tight, the pages and plates all exceptionally clean and bright. Lightly scuffed covers and spine; damp stain with fading along cover head edges (top 1 inch), does not affect end papers or interior leaves; bumped at rear cover top fore corner with tear in cloth; tightly bound; clean interior; few interior plates with light foxing. Boston: Little, Brown and Company. First Edition . Cloth - Hard Cover. Good+/No Jacket. sm folio. Complete in four volumes, with all plates. All volumes have been professionally and very nicely rebacked, retaining original spine covers. Gilt on spine is good, though slightly faded on a few letters. Covers are lightly rubbed and show a little wear at corners in general, and along the lower edges of volume IV. Small book plate on top front paste down, and inked name on blank front free end page. Free end leaves show a few creases. Volumes remain tight and are otherwise clean and intact.

Some light soiling to the smooth leather boards. Slight shelfwear to some edges and corners, but overall, a handsome set. ; Both volumes are full light brown leather with triple gilt fillet borders on front and rear boards. Five raised bands with elaborate gilt floral compartments and gilt lettering on the spines. Gilt dentell on inside front and rear boards. AEG. Original green cloth covers (front and back) and spines bound in the rear of both volumes. Clean and unmarked texts. Tight bindings. Gandavi,: Typis Judoci Begyn,, 1786 (= 1787).. [10], 466, [ii]; [iv], 44, [iv] pp. 4to (20 x 24.5 cm.). Recent half brown morocco, spine with 5 raised bands; marbled boards. ¶ An interesting municipal pharmacopoea, published by order of the Collegium Medici Gandensis under the editorship of the pharmacists J. de Bever, A.D. Goormachtigh, G. van den Haute, and J. de Vos. The popolar names of the Materia Medica also give in Dutch. This was the last of a series of the municipal pharmacopoeasof Gent. The first was published in 1653 as 'Antidotarium Gandavensis", followed by an edition in 1663, and in 1756 as 'Pharmacopoea Gandavensis'. This is the last municipal pharmacopoea published in Belgium, and new was that the names of the Materia Medica are given in both Latin and Dutch. Today very rare.-- (A number of leaves slightly browned and/or partly foxed).

Armorial bookplate to the front pastedown of The Right Honourable George Rose. In old half leather, the spine is torn and very damaged with loss. Glue repairs. Front board held by cords. Corners also worn. Light browning to pages throughout. Offsetting to the folding map, which also has creases and a small tear. Front free end paper detached..

Pages: 148, III. Dimensions: 21,5 x 14,9 cm. Binding: Later half cloth binding. Condition: Ex library copy, with stamps on five pages. Stamp that certifies that the book was legally disposed from the library as a duplicate. Otherwise, a nice and clean copy with some minimal signs of paper aging. Inscribed by the author, on the half title, to "????????? ???????? ???????(?????)", the first Serbian Scientific society and predecessors of the Serbian Academy of Science and Art.
