Golden Gallery Press, 1111. Hardcover. Good/Good. No edition stated. 103 pages. Red jacket over black cloth with gilt titles to spine. Illustrated by Tom Kerr. From the Golden Galley series. Pages have slight foxing, tanning and minor thumbing. Text block edges moderately foxed. Boards have some moderate edge wear, with slight bumping to corners and minor bumping to spine ends. Boards a little rubbed and marked overall. Gilt is bright. Book has a slight forward lean. Unclipped jacket has light edgewear with small tears and creasing. Spine is noticeably sunned and rubbed.

Synopsis

The full title of Charles Dickens' most famous work is technically A Christmas Carol in Prose, Being a Ghost-Story of Christmas. This novella was published on December 19, 1843, and the first edition run of 6000 copies were sold out by Christmas Eve of that year. The publication of the first edition was fraught with complications, and even though the book was received to positive reviews, profits of the book fell far below Dickens' expectations, and the financial strain caused rifts between Dickens and the original publisher, Chapman & Hall.
