New York, New York, U.S.A.: Grosset & Dunlap, 1944. First Edition Later Printing . Hardcover. Very Good/Poor. Book #2 in the vintage girls' series featuring nurse Cherry Ames (CA). This is an edition from the original series issued with DJs, with brown tweed cloth-covered boards & black lettering/image of Cherry to center front cover. A First Edition, but DJ indicates later printing. No list of other books in front matter & advertisement for the next book in series ("Army Nurse") on last page (unnumbered, page 218). Book condition is VG: very clean, binding strong & straight, pages slightly off-white with very light tanning; no foxing, but light soil & rubbing to fore edges. Old gift inscription in pen on ffep. Crisp corners, very slight rubbing. The unclipped DJ lists to CA #16 on front flap, Vickie Barr (VB) #10 on rear flap, Nancy Drew #32 on rear cover. DJ condition downgraded to Poor due to heavy rubbing to front & lesser edgewear all around (small chips, creases). Nicely protected in new mylar cover Free!
