Helen Wells (1910 – 1986)

Born Helen Weinstock in Danville, Illinois, Wells graduated from NYU University in 1934 and worked as a social worker, but soon gave that up to become a full-time writer.

Wells was known for her 'Career Romances' for young people that focused on young women pursuing careers, such as nursing in her best known for her "Cherry Ames" series, of which she wrote 22 books. She also wrote 11 books in her Vicky Barr Series about a young mystery-solving flight attendance. Under the pen-name Francine Lewis she wrote 4 Polly French Books.
