Pages with some foxing and tanning, particularly to endpapers and textblock edges. Some cracking to hinges and gutters. Binding slightly loose. Boards have moderate shelf wear with mild bumping and fraying to corners and crushing and fraying to spine ends. All surfaces tanned and sunned, particularly spine. Gilt lettering to spine is slightly dulled.

Pencil markings to front free endpaper. Boards have moderate edge-wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Slight crushing to spine ends and corners. Gilt lettering is darkened. Moderate sunning to spine and edges. Visible wear marks to boards.Book has a slight forward lean.

A first edition copy of The Canary Islands by Florence du Cane with sixteen full page illustrations by her sister Ella Du Cane. This volumes is a wonderful guide to the canary Islands, exploring Tenerife, Grand Canary, Palma and Fuerteventura. The two du Cane sisters created travel books together, with Ella creating watercolours of the landscapes and locations. With sixteen colour illustrations and a folding map to the rear of the volume. Collated, complete. With adverts to the rear. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, very smart with some light bumping to the head and tail of the spine. Previous owner bookplate to the front free endpaper and pencil inscription to the front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound with bright and clean pages. Very Good
