A new edition of Washington Irving's episodic novel formed of a series of character sketches, originally published in 1821 under pseudonym Geoffrey Crayon. This copy was also published under pseudonym. Evolving around the occupants of an English manor inspired by Aston Hall upon a visit from the author.  In half calf binding with titles in gilt to morocco spine label. Externally generally smart with minor shelf wear, light rubbing along joints, back strip faded, light scuffing to head of spine rear board. Internally, firmly bound. Light spotting scattered to occasional leaf, pages otherwise generally very clean throughout. Very Good

This episodic novel was originally published under his pseudonym Geoffrey Crayon.

Small 8 vo., This English edition preceding the American, square, tight and unmarked copies, although tightness due to reinforced linen tape on hinges on Volume 2. Spine joints beginning to split, still stable. Leather spine labels chipped at edges however lettering complete and still quite legible. Leather boards mildly scuffed. Overall a very presentable and affordable set. Now protected in removable mylar.
