Brunswick, GA: Reagin Publishing Company, 2000. First Edition. . Hardcover. Fine/None Issued. F/0/1st. Ed. /Signed. It has been more than forty years since the last compilation of the cemetery records of McIntosh County was issued. The Cemetery Records of McIntosh County, Georgia, compiled in 1958 by Mrs. Evie White, unfortunately has proved to be only of marginal use as a reference for genealogists and other researches, as it does not include all of the white cemeteries of the county, nor does it include any of the African-American cemeteries. With the completion of the present study, compiled and published under the auspices of the Lower Altamaha Historical Society, McIntosh County now has its most comprehensive collection of cemetery records to date. The present effort includes all McIntosh County cemeteries, black and white, with recorded burials dating from colonial times to the present. Peter Newland, Preface: "During the [Vietnam] war our unit's job was to hand produce a cargo tracking tome called the Commander's Monthly Review and to prepare charts, overhead transparencies, and illustrations for the Colonel's briefings. The poster pictured on the front of this card was an attempt to interject some humor into mostly serious business. We make no claim to being prescient and frankly can't explain why now travel to Vietnam is all the rage. "It is unlikely that today's tour guides point out that there are 58,267 names on our Vietnam War Memorial. A wall for Vietnamese soldiers would need to be at least twice as long. This book is in good condition. There is some wear on the front, back, spine, edges and corner of the cover. There is some dog-earring on the right corner pages of the book. The pages are white, crisp and clear of any markings. "This is a history of the visual arts produced in the geographical area that now constitutes the United States. Such a book is difficult to title. A History of United States Art sounds awkward and logically might even be construed to exclude the arts of the colonial period. Thus, with apologies to our northern and southern neighbors, I use the title A History of American Art, knowing full well that the terms America and the United States are not synonymous...." - Preface from A History of American Art

Indianapolis: Dog Ear Publishing, January 2013. Trade Paperback. Fine. Slight reading wear to corners, otherwise pristine. Not from a library. No remainder mark. Not clipped. Not damaged. Suitable for gifting. 163 pages. The 25 authors of this book were volunteers in the first Peace Corps rural community development project in Africa: Sierra Leone, 1965-67. They are also the first group to tell a collective story of Peace Corps volunteers, anywhere. The Peace Corps was in its infancy then, and memories of John Kennedy were strong among the young volunteers. Sierra Leone was also in its infancy in the first few years after independence, before military coups and tribal warfare became common. The authors forthrightly recount their feelings of loneliness and isolation, and their frightening experiences with secret societies and witchcraft, but their uniquely optimistic "can-do" American attitude brought most through a great life experience.
