First edition, signed by the artist, Jim Dine, on the limitation. #115 of 150 numbered copies from a total edition of 180. 44 leaves. 42 lithographs by Jim Dine. Folio. 55.7x38 cm (22" x 15"), leaves loose in red cloth portfolio box with companion essay contained in recessed pocket of portfolio's inside cover. Fine. Actor and comedian Robin Williams's copy, although unmarked.
"Biotherm" is the last long poem of New York School poet Frank O'Hara, whose accidental death in 1966 at age 40 deprived America of one of its most vital and innovative poets. The poet and critic Bill Berkson, to whom the poem is addressed, provided an essay and compiled a glossary to explicate the references in the poem and to recount the circumstances of its writing.
