Beginning with 'A Christmas Carol' in 1843, Charles Dickens wrote and published five Christmas books for the holiday season. The fourth title in this series of novellas is 'The Battle of Life.' Curiously, this title is the sole non-religious title of the Christmas Book series. The story is one of strife, misguided perception, and the significance of both romantic and familial love. This work includes numerous charming illustrations throughout provided by the collective work of esteemed artists Daniel Maclise, Richard Doyle, John Leech and Clarkson Stanfield.
