About This Item

London: Chapman and Hall, 1871. A pair of later printings published by Chapman and Hall in 1871. Both have had the original green cloth relaid. Edges rubbed, browning etc. Both bear the ownership inscription of Sir David Attenborough (D F Attenborough/Dec 1947 in Barnaby Rudge and D F Attenborough Jan 1947 in The Old Curiosity Shop). Both now housed in a custom made slipcase. Two books by the 41st 'Greatest Briton', owned by the '63rd'. A lovely association.

Synopsis

Barnaby Rudge: A Tale of the Riots of Eighty,  commonly known as Barnaby Rudge , is an historical novel by the author Charles Dickens. Barnaby Rudge was one of two novels that Dickens published in his short-lived weekly serial Master Humphrey's Clock, which lasted from 1840 to 1841, when the book was published. It was Dickens' first attempt at an historical novel, his only other being A Tale of Two Cities.
