Moderate tanning to pages with pencil inscriptions to front endpaper and slight dog-eared pages throughout. Rough cut edges to text block and both hinges are cracked with exposed netting. There is cracks to guttering with exposed netting and major water damage to pages. Boards have heavy rubbing and edge wear with moderate bumping to corners. Heavy crushing to spine ends and splitting to joints. Visible rubbing to spine.

Twenty-seven collotype portraits by Sir Joshua Reynolds. Portraits appear to have been hand cut, then tipped in on blue paper with thin paper guards. Portraits are complete and fine. Sturdy binding is pushed at top and bottom edges of spine. No writing or ownership markings. No jacket. Moderate edge wear. Several light scuffs to boards. Thick deckle page edges are toned, yet pages are clean and clear. NOT ex-library. Doctor Johnson's Mrs. Thrale: Autobiography, Letters and Literary Remains of Mrs. Piozzi. A sturdy, pleasant copy.
