T.N. Foulis Edinburgh & London, 1910. Good++ to Very Good. An abridgment of the 2 volume Hayward 1861. Quarter blue cloth, blue/grey boards, vivid gold and black lettering. Twenty-seven collotype portraits by Sir Joshua Reynolds. Portraits appear to have been hand cut, then tipped in on blue paper with thin paper guards. Portraits are complete and fine. Sturdy binding is pushed at top and bottom edges of spine. No writing or ownership markings. No jacket. Moderate edge wear. Several light scuffs to boards. Thick deckle page edges are toned, yet pages are clean and clear. NOT ex-library. Doctor Johnson's Mrs. Thrale: Autobiography, Letters and Literary Remains of Mrs. Piozzi. A sturdy, pleasant copy.
