"We the Subscribed Selectmen of the Town of Boston do approve of the following persons as Inn holders & Retailers in the said Town & we do hereby recommend them to the best of our knowledge as persons of sober Life & Conversation suitably qualified & provided for the exercise of such an employment & firmly attached to the Constitution and Laws of this Commonwealth." Among the Inn holders are Thomas Obrien on Exchange Street; William Parker on Broad Street; and Edward Savage of Boylston Hall. There are some 26 retailers listed.
