[Boston] Selectmen of the Town of Boston. Autograph Document Signed. Boston, Massachusetts: August 7, 1811. One sheet folded into four leaves 22.5 cm x 33.5 cm. Fold splits, chips, a few worm holes and darkening. Poor. Text is legible. Would display well.

OCLC shows two holdings for documents of the Boston Selectmen for 1811 (Boston Public Library). "We the Subscribed Selectmen of the Town of Boston do approve of the following persons as Inn holders & Retailers in the said Town & we do hereby recommend them to the best of our knowledge as persons of sober Life & Conversation suitably qualified & provided for the exercise of such an employment & firmly attached to the Constitution and Laws of this Commonwealth." Among the Inn holders are Thomas Obrien on Exchange Street; William Parker on Broad Street; and Edward Savage of Boylston Hall. There are some 26 retailers listed. Signed by the following Selectmen: Charles Bulfinch, William Porter, Ebenezer Oliver, John May, Francis Wright, Nathan Webb, & Benjamin Weld. A great primary source for research on Boston.
