About the author

Ben Stoltzfus is a novelist, translator, literary critic, and retired professor of comparative literature, French, and creative writing at the University of California, Riverside. He is the recipient of Fulbright, Camargo, Humanities, and Creative Arts grants, a Gradiva award from NAAP for Lacan and Literature, and a Scholar's Library award from MLA for Gide's Eagles. An internationally recognized comparatist and interarts scholar, Stoltzfus has published books on Alain Robbe-Grillet, Georges Chennevire, Ren Magritte, and Jasper Johns, as well as numerous essays, which have appeared in prestigious international and American journals.
