About this book
Partially based upon the
life of Oakland entrepreneur "Borax" Smith, Burning Daylight was Jack
London's best selling book during his lifetime. The novel is set in the Yukon
Territory in 1893, telling the story of an adventurer, nicknamed “Burning
Daylight,” who went to Alaska and laid the foundations of his fortune before
the gold hunters arrived. Burning Daylight was adapted for American films in
1914, 1920, 1928, and 2010.
First Edition Identification
The Macmillan Company of New York first published Burning Daylight in 1910. First editions contain 8 Illustrations by W. Morgan, including the frontispiece as well as seven inserted plates. First editions also have "Macmillan" imprinted at bottom of the spine.
