From the publisher

The Dunnigans is a story of two brothers who have led very different lives. Patrick Dunnigan is a house gambler at the Palace Hotel in Kansas City. He makes a nice living, wears expensive clothes, and enjoys the big city refinements which are so abundant in this enlightened year of 1879. Patrick's brother, Shannon, however, is a reformed gunfighter and outlaw who has marrried the girl of his dreams and settled down on a remote farm in south-central Oregon. He has hung up his gun for good. One day Patrick receives a chilling telegram from his uncle, Ethan Brooke. Ethan is desperate. It seems he is being pressured to sell his land and timber to ruthless rancher, Race Keene. That would be troubling enough because Ethan is getting on in years and had no family to turn to except the Dunnigan brothers, but Ethan's little town has suddenly become populated with gunslicks led by a famous man-killer named Monk Defenbaugh. Patrick decides to go to his aid. As his brother Patrick heads into danger in Sundown, New Mexico, danger is stalking Shannon at home. Kin of the evil gunslinger and gambler, Simon Tollivar, who Shannon killed in a gunfight years ago have decided to even the score. Patrick and Shannon Dunnigan have taken different paths, but they are brothers and when brothers are in danger, blood ties bind. In the exciting climax of The Dunnigans, each brother must decide what he will sacrifice and what really matters in a man's life.
