Inscribed and dated by author on title page. Author's business card, with e-mail address written in by hand, laid in. The author was a U.S. Military Academy graduate in 1968 and later earned a Ph.D. from Oxford. He served in the 82d Airborne Division. He served as Deputy Air Force Historian at the USAF Office of History before becoming a research fellow at the National War College. He retired from the military in 1998. Colonel Williams presents a comprehensive study of British bombing efforts in the Great War. He contends that the official version of costs and results underplays the costs while overplaying the results.
